 Delhi announces its coaching staff for Women’s Indian T20 League 2023

Ahead of the inaugural Women’s Indian T20 League, the Delhi franchise had finalized its coaching staff. The player auction will take place on February 13. With only days left in the event, the Delhi-based team has appointed their coaching staff. The head coach of the team is Jonathan Betty, who led the Oval Invincibles side to two back-to-back titles in the 2021 and 2022 seasons in The Hundred.

After his joining, the 48-year-old said that he is thrilled to join the team and it is an honor. He added that he can’t wait to work with the team and further added this is the best time to work in Women’s cricket.

“I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining Delhi as Head Coach for the inaugural WPL.  It’s a huge honour to have been granted this opportunity by the management, and I can’t wait to work with the team. It’s an incredible time to be involved in Women’s cricket and the WPL has the potential to transform the landscape of women’s professional sport globally,” Betty said.

Lisa Keightley and Hemlata Kala were appointed assistant coaches of the team

On the other hand, Hemlata Kala and Lisa Keightley as the assistant coaches. The former worked as a selector in the Indian Cricket Board. During her tenure, India reached the final of the 2017 Women’s ODI World Cup. On the other hand, Keightley coached the England side in the 2022 Women’s ODI World Cup.

“I am grateful and excited for this new role with Delhi. I am looking forward to putting together our squad ahead of the inaugural edition of the tournament, which I am confident will be a gamechanger for women’s cricket,” Kala said

“I’m very excited to be involved with the Delhi and to be working with so many different players and staff from around the world. WPL is a game changer for women’s sports around the world, and we have the opportunity to showcase cricket to a new audience.”
