Delhi Capital’s owner spill beans on Rishabh Pant’s role and his team’s composition in IPL 2024
The anticipation for the 2024 edition of the IPL is palpable as the schedule of the marquee domestic T20 event of the world has been announced. Since the schedule for the first 17 days of the tournament is announced the buzz around the upcoming edition of the IPL has gone through the roof.
The first match of the season opener is between the two most popular teams of the IPL- Chennai Super Kings and Royals Challengers Bangalore. It will be followed by the Delhi Capitals taking on the Punjab Kings in a day game at Mohali. The Delhi Capitals has been in the news in recent times for various reasons.
First, the fans are excited to witness the return of Rishabh Pant as Delhi’s captain, who will be back in action after a hiatus of more than a year. Afterwards, it was also announced that Delhi would not be playing their initial two home games at Delhi due to the preoccupancy of the stadium for the WPL.
Delhi Capital owner clears the air on players’ availability
Amid all the confusion and speculations regarding the franchise and its players, DC’s part owner and Managing Director of JSW Cements, Parth Jindal has issued an official statement addressing various raging issues regarding the franchise.
Firstly, much to everyone’s delight Parth Jindal has announced that Rishabh Pant will be available as a batter and leader of Delhi Capitals from game 1 of the IPL. He said, “Rishabh is batting. He’s running. He has started his wicketkeeping. He is likely to be fully fit for the IPL. I am expecting Rishabh to play IPL and he will lead from match one. First seven games we are going to play him only as a batter and depending on how his body reacts, we will take a call for the rest of the IPL.”
He also shed light on the availability of their premier South African pacer Anrich Nortje and said that he will be fit to play in the IPL. Speaking about Anrich Nortje he revealed, “He’s fit. Right now, he is bowing at 80% intensity. Next week, he will bowl at 100%. He’s going to make his comeback in the IPL. He is going to join our camp and should be good to go for our first game.”
Delhi Capitals added England’s young sensation Harry Brook to their squad. Parth Jindal also opened up about his role in the team and said that he will be batting at No.6 and will provide DC with the firepower that they missed in their last season.
While addressing the Delhi Capital squad composition he looks quite satisfied and positive. Addressing his team composition he said, “We feel very confident, the balance of the team is a lot better with Rishabh coming back in. We have a very good squad and a lot of options with players like Tristan Stubbs, who had a phenomenal SA20 (with SA20 2024 champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape), and Mitch Marsh becoming captain of Australia’s T20I team.”
