Demand for tickets skyrockets for CSK vs KKR clash as Chepauk hosts its last game of IPL 2023
One of the most talked-about topics in cricket right now is whether MS Dhoni would play another Indian Premier League (IPL) season or retire after IPL 2023. Numerous people have been waiting in line all night for tickets to Chennai Super Kings’ last home game versus Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. The fans will only be present in the stadium to only watch the legend.
According to an article in the Indian Express, homeless people, regular labourers, and students who are spending Rs 800 to attend the game are in the lengthy line for a ticket that costs at least, Rs 1500. They each have a chance to buy two tickets, and some of them are doing so in order to resell them for more money – sometimes with prices of up to 200–300% on the black market.
We are being offered Rs 800 to stand in the queue and buy tickets: CSK Fan
One of the passionate supporters who works for an IT company in Chennai, Srinivas Ganesan, is among those who can afford it. His favorite mode of transport was online. However, because there are no more available tickets, waiting in queue is not an option. He thus hired someone by giving 500 rupees to stand in the queue for him.
“You can say it’s unethical and fueling black marketing, but that’s the only option I think I have to watch the match. I tried on PayTM Insider and on CSK websites but all are sold out. I have an off on Sunday and don’t want to miss out on the match. If I can get a ticket, paying 500 bucks extra, why not. The person I paid to is also earning something, it’s a win-win,” Ganesan was quoted as saying on InsideSport.
“We are being offered Rs 800 to stand in the queue and buy tickets. We will hand them over, and those people in turn will sell them for Rs 5,000 each in the black market. This is the fourth match I’m standing in the queue for and for every six hours, I get Rs 800,” a fan was quoted as saying on Indian Express who was standing in the queue at 2:30 AM on Friday morning.
