‘Din aur raat logon ke hote honge, sheron ka zamana hota hai’: A vintage Kohli takes the cricketing world by storm
Bangalore and Gujarat faced off in the 67th match of the Indian T20 League 2022. In a do-or-die match, Bangalore managed a comfortable victory and kept their playoff hopes alive. But the fans will remember the match for Kohli’s return amongst runs.
Gujarat won the toss and decided to field first in the match. On the back of a strong batting display the skipper of the team, Hardik Pandya (62 of 47), they were able to post a total of 168 runs on the board. Bangalore tried to be positive from the very beginning of their chase. With a little bit of luck going in Kohli’s favor at the start of the innings, he soon found his touchback.
He picked up some boundaries at the start and that got him going. His presence in the middle was very dynamic. Even when he was not getting the boundaries, he was looking to rotate the strike. The weather conditions got to him towards them and he visibly tired out. Kohli was dismissed in the 17th over of the match by Rashid Khan. But this was not before he played a brilliant knock of 73 runs off 54 balls hitting eight fours and two sixes.
The innings from Kohli was a perfect example of how he usually goes by his business. The vintage Kohli stuff got all the cricketing fans excited. The player enjoys a massive following and they were waiting for a long time for the return of the king. So, the match-winning knock from the talismanic batter prompted the fans to take to Twitter and express their joy at seeing Kohli back in form.
Coming back to the match, after Kohli’s dismissal, it was Glenn Maxwell who ensured that Kohli’s efforts finished on the correct side. Maxwell scored 40 runs off 18 deliveries and took his team to win by wickets with 1.2 overs remaining in the match.

Virat’s enjoying his batting this evening. The good shots and the streaky ones. Not the modern day great searching for form, but the boy who loves his cricket is on the field tonight. #RCBvGT #ViratKohli
