Dinesh Karthik and Ravichandran Ashwin are likely to play in Tamil Nadu Premier League’s second phase

After drawing the home T20I series against South Africa, the Indian T20 side is getting ready to face Ireland at their home conditions for a two-match T20I series. The series will start on 26 June 2022 under the newly appointed captain, Hardik Pandya along with his new deputy, Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
Veteran wicketkeeper batter Dinesh Karthik is in the squad as he played good knocked against the proteas also. Apart from it, Ravichandran Ashwin is also in the Indian Test team squad as the Indian Test team is going to face England on 1 July 2022 for that one-off, rescheduled match. However, reports are suggesting that both these Indian players will be available to play for their respective Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) sides at the later stage of this year’s edition of this tournament.

As per the sources of Espn Cricinfo, both these players are likely to be part of this year’s Tamil Nadu Premier League in the second half of the tournament. This news had been shared on Twitter also. Here is the post:

Speaking about the form, Ashwin was the most economical bowler (economy 7.50) for his Rajasthan franchise as he picked up 12 wickets in 17 matches. He also contributed with the bat by scoring 191 runs in 12 innings at an average of 27.28. On the other hand, Dinesh Karthik smashed 330 runs in 16 innings at an average of 55 for his Bangalore franchise. It also earned him a comeback call to the National Team for the South Africa series.
In that series, he scored 92 runs in four innings where he remained not out two times with an average of 46. The whole cricket fraternity is impressed with his batting ability while batting in the lower order and that’s why he is tipped to be a part of the Indian squad for the upcoming World Cup. TNPL is scheduled to be completed on 31 July 2022 and therefore, these players are reportedly to join their respective franchises in this tournament.
