The Essex side has brought in star India bowler, Umesh Yadav for the last three matches of the County Championship season. The right-arm seamer has replaced New Zealand speedster Doug Bracewell in the squad. Essex are currently second in Division One heading into the final month of the English summer, 17 points behind leaders and defending champions Surrey. Essex’s next three fixtures are against Middlesex, Hampshire and Northamptonshire.

Last year Umesh played three games for Middlesex where he snapped four wickets at an average of 71.50. The Vidarbha-born cricketer suffered a quad injury while playing against Gloucestershire in the Royal London One-Day Cup, which ended his County Championship season. He has played a total of 57 Tests, 75 ODIs, and nine T20Is for the Men in Blue where he has picked 288 international wickets.

We all know what he will be able to bring to our attack at a crucial time of the season: Anthony McGrath

“I am really pleased to join Essex and make what I hope will be some valuable contributions to the team’s success this year,” Umesh said in an Essex press release. “I enjoyed playing in England with Middlesex last season, and it will be good to return and test myself in those conditions again, especially in the midst of a title race,” the 35-ear-old was quoted as saying on ESPNcricinfo.

“Umesh is a superb signing for us, and we all know what he will be able to bring to our attack at a crucial time of the season. He is vastly experienced and has taken wickets at the top levels of the game for more than a decade now, so as well as contributing during our run-in, we hope he can pass on some of his wisdom to our young players too,” Essex head coach Anthony McGrath was quoted as saying on ESPNcricinfo.

The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bowler was last seen in the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia in June, where team India went onto lose the match 209 runs at the The Oval.
