England came out as victorious as they made their record chase in the Test format against India at Edgbaston in Birmingham. After having a batting collapse in the second innings, India set up a target of 378 runs for England.

England batters responded brilliantly as their openers put up a hundred-run partnership. But, former Test captain, Joe Root, and Jonny Bairstow looked in great touch as they ended day four when England was on 259 runs by only losing three wickets. Indian bowlers looked completely clueless as they failed to take wickets at a regular interval. Speaking of that, former Pakistan spinner, Danish Kaneria shared his thought on the Koo app. He blamed the Indian Cricket Team management for making the wrong selection of players in this match.

India made the mistake and paying the price,” – Danish Kaneria

Speaking on the Koo app, Kaneria said that India made a mistake by not considering Ravichandran Ashwin in their playing XI. Hence, they were paying the price for that. He said: “Winning to losing position team India at Edgbaston. Why Ravichandran Ashwin was not in playing eleven who made the call, Dravid, as coach played so much in England, know the condition very well it’s England summer where the wickets get baked and dry and from day 3 ball gets to spin, where there is seam it will spin because of moisture. Only Bumrah looks that he can do wonders. India made the mistake and paying the price,”

Speaking about the match, India went with four pace bowling options and one spin-bowling option in the form of Ravindra Jadeja. However, before this match, Ashwin tested Covid-19 positive. But, he made a comeback on the last day of the four-day warm-up match against Leicestershire. The Indian pace bowling attack looked pretty ineffective against the in-form pair of Root and Bairstow. Both of them scored a hundred each as England chased the target of 378 runs at ease with seven wickets to spare.
