Faf du Plessis’ comments on Indian culture wins the heart of fans
Rajasthan took on Bangalore in Qualifier 2 of the Indian T20 League 2022 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The stakes were very high in the match as the winners would have moved on to play the finals against Gujarat on the 29th of May, Sunday at the same venue.
Rajasthan however, dominated the match in all aspects of the game and ousted Faf du Plessis’ men from the tournament. Courtesy of some brilliant bowling by the Rajasthan bowlers, Bangalore managed to reach a moderate total of 157 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their 20 overs. On the back of a brilliant century by Jos Buttler (106 of 60), the 2008-champions chased down the target comfortably losing only three wickets and with 11 deliveries still remaining in the match.
As the match got over Faf du Plessis looked disappointed on losing out after coming so close to lifting the title. But he won the heart of the fans with his comment on Indian culture while thanking the fans of the team during the post-match presentation ceremony.
“This season has been good for Bangalore. I am really proud of this. We have great respect for the people in India. It is a big part of Indian culture. The players got emotional when I was mesmerized by the Bangalore cheers in the stadium. The support you get as a cricketer in India is remarkable’”- said Faf.
He also thanked his teammates for putting in their best on the field. The former Proteas skipper also stated that the future of Indian cricket looks bright and said that after Indian T20 League, the nation now has the option of choosing three teams given the number of talents in the scene.
“The future of Indian cricket is bright, after ITL you can choose three Indian teams including young players. It was the most obvious thing when I joined the franchise,”-Faf added.
