After the loss of India against Australia, many have been feeling sad for Rohit Sharma, who performed very well in the ODI World Cup 2023. Both as a batter and as a captain, Sharma performed well in the tournament. Despite giving his everything in the tournament, Rohit could not win the tournament. The 2023 World Cup was the best bet for Rohit to win the ODI World Cup.
With the bat, Rohit Sharma scored 597 runs in 11 innings at a batting average of over 52, at a batting strike rate of over 124. The Indian opener was selfless in his approach and was impressive with his aggressive nature. Rohit scored a hundred and 2 fifties in the tournament and became the batter with the most number of sixes in the World Cup and international cricket.
Even as a leader, Rohit was brilliant in the tournament. The 36-year-old gave full freedom for the players to express themselves. The field placements, bowling changes and other minute decisions were apt. Only in the final, Rohit messed up a bit with bowling changes. The former Pakistani pacer said that Rohit was brilliant with the bat and as a leader.
“Rohit Sharma played well and led the team superbly. He thoroughly deserved to win the World Cup. I’m still thinking why he couldn’t win the title. He didn’t think about personal milestones. I genuinely feel for him,” said Akhtar. Rohit might not play his next ODI World Cup, which is set to happen in 2027, four years from now. By then, Rohit would be 40 years old. Hence, 2023 was the best opportunity for the Indian captain to win the World Cup.

Indian team played really well. They truly deserve to win, but the problem is that they always had a bad day at the final of every tournament .
