‘Finally Gambhir bhi King ka fan ban gaya’ – Fans react as Gautam Gambhir lauds Virat Kohli’s gesture for asking fans to not troll Naveen-ul-Haq during ODI WC 2023 match

India’s former cricketer and commentator Gautam Gambhir has requested the fans to stop trolling Afghanistan’s young bowler Naveen-ul-Haq who recently got into a brutal brawl with Virat Kohli during the Indian Premier league match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Lucknow super giants.

India and Afghanistan met for the ninth match of the ODI World Cup 2023 and the duo shook hands and hugged to let the bygones be bygones. Virat Kohli is being widely appreciated for his gesture towards the young bowler. LSG’s mentor Gautam Gambhir who also got involved in the fight has also cleared the air regarding the issue.

Gautam Gambhir on Naveen-ul-Haq and Virat Kohli’s brawl during IPL

“You fight on the field, not off the field. Every player has the right to fight for his team, fight for respect, and fight to win. It doesn’t matter which country you belong to or how good of a player you are. The good thing was when we saw Virat Kohli and Naveen-ul-Haq in between the covers, we could see that the fight had ended,” said Gautam Gambhir.

“I would also want to tell the crowd and fans that any player on the ground or on social media, shouldn’t be trolled or made fun of. You are passionate when you represent your team. It was a huge thing for Naveen to play in the IPL for the first time coming from Afghanistan”, added Gautam Gambhir.

“Crowd will chant for their home cricketers and that is what they did. It is his (Kohli’s) home ground. He is a nice guy, a good player and we shook hands. It (what happened) was always in the ground, it was nothing outside the ground. People make it big. They need that stuff for their followers. He said (today) ‘we are done with that and I said yes we are done with that. We shook hands and hugged,” said Naveen-ul-Haq.
