Virat Kohli is currently on a rest from any cricketing action after the England tour. Even, he has got rest from the upcoming Zimbabwe tour also. Hence, he is most likely to be seen in Asia Cup in Indian colours. Now, former cricketer, Sanjay Manjrekar slammed the Indian Cricket Board on the Virat Kohli situation.

Since 2019, Virat has failed to score a single ton for India across all three formats. As per reports, Indian selectors wanted him to play in the West Indies and Zimbabwe tours. But, he himself requested a rest from those matches. Hence, the Board gave rest to him. ahead of the mega-events, his form has become a matter of concern for India. Therefore, Sanjay Manjrekar came up with his verdict regarding this whole situation.

“Maybe there’s some logic there that we don’t know about. Maybe they had a chat with Virat Kohli.” – Sanjay Manjrekar

Speaking on SPORTS18’s show – Sports Over The Top, Sanjay Manjrekar said he found no logic in resting Kohli during these matches. He also added that maybe Virat had a chat with them personally before making this decision. Sanjay said: “Maybe there’s some logic there that we don’t know about. Maybe they had a chat with Virat Kohli, but my personal view is the more Virat Kohli would’ve played and especially these matches would’ve been better for him.”

Manjrekar also added that Virat had already got many rests in the last two years. “I think they should have played Virat Kohli in every international match possible, whatever the format because Virat has had his breaks. People are advocating that he should take some breaks and he’s had his breaks. If you look at the last two years, he’s not played a lot of International cricket,” he said.

However, Manjrekar heaped high praises for another veteran Indian cricketer, Bhuvneshwar Kumar. “Bhuvneshwar recently gave an interview, and he is at his peak at the moment. Eighteen months back, we thought he may not have an international career. But he has bounced back superbly and is a certainty to make the T20 world cup squad. And he said, ‘The more I bowl, the more I get my rhythm’,” Sanjay Manjrekard concluded.
