Virat Kohli has been the most prolific run-scorer for India post the Sachin Tendulkar era. His impeccable consistency has been an asset for the team for a long period of time. Kohli has been the architect behind some of the most memorable wins of team India.

But in the last couple of years, Kohli’s form has been in the decline. He has been away from a century in competitive cricket for over two years now. The whole cricketing fraternity has been surprised by this lack of form from Kohli. Cricket fans across the world are waiting for ‘the King’ to return to form.

One such follower is the former Indian pacer, RP Singh. He has recently commented on Kohli’s current dip in form. As per the former pacer, Kohli is taking longer to return to form because he is playing more T20 cricket where the chances of facing deliveries are less.

RP Singh was seen talking about Kohli in a recent conversation with India TV. He said-“His time is bad. The way he is getting out, it is strange the manner in which he is getting out. We’ve never seen Virat this way. This is a very big bad patch and with Virat, he has taken a long to hit a bad form, so coming out of it is going to take equally long. In ODIs and Tests, you can consume balls and slowly get back to form. In the T20s, you don’t have that liberty.”

Kohli has been a vital cog of any team he is a part of. Even if he is not scoring runs his presence on the field is important to uplift the morale of the other members of the team. The star batter even gave up captaincy to decrease the pressure on him. But nothing has worked for him yet.

“If you have to come to form, you can start by scoring 60 off 50-55 balls. You can’t expect to score 100 off 55 balls. You have to spend time and take singles, and doubles. Coming back to form isn’t easy because he has been dominating for years. Virat must be wondering himself that ‘I used to dominate once but now get out whenever ball touches the bat’. He has taken the right method but the format is wrong,”- added RP Singh.

The Indian selectors have rested Kohli along with some big names like Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah for the South Africa T20I series at home.  He will be next seen in action in the all-format series India will play against England on their home soil in July.
