‘Gareebi m aata geela’ – Fans react as Mitchell Marsh set to miss Indian Premier League 2023 for a week because of his marriage
After losing the last match by 5 runs against Punjab Kings (PBKS), the Rajasthan Royals (RR) will lock horns against Delhi Capitals on Saturday, April 8 at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, in Guwahati. One international player will be unavailable to the visiting side for one week as he returns home to attend his wedding.
According to Cricbuzz, the star Australian all-rounder, Mitchell Marsh is set to miss one week of the 16th edition of IPL, as he has traveled back to his hometown to start a new chapter of his life. As April and May are Australia’s off-season months, the majority of players wed after completing their professional responsibilities.
Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings to play on two home grounds
Marsh played in both games for DC. In the opening fixture against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), he was out for a first-ball duck. In the second game, Marsh used the same number of balls to score 4 runs against the defending champions, Gujarat Titans (GT). If Marsh is not present, DC may replace Rovman Powell in the starting XI with him. If included, the captain of the West Indies T20I team could bat in the lower middle order.
For Delhi, the game against Rajasthan is crucial since a loss would make it three losses in a row. They have a poor NRR of -1.703. In its last two games, Rajasthan has only achieved one victory. In the opening game of the IPL 2023, Sanju Samson’s squad easily defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 72 runs. By a slim margin of 5 runs, RR fell to Punjab Kings in their second game.
Interestingly, Guwahati will host the Rajasthan Royals’ first two home games because they have designated the Assamese capital as their second home ground. They’re not the only Indian Premier League team with two home stadiums. The Punjab Kings have elected to play some of their home games in the Dharamshala stadium, which will serve as their second home ground.
Here’s how fans reacted on Mitchell Marsh’s absence:
In Marsh's absence, I feel @DelhiCapitals @davidwarner31 sir should play a batting lineup consisting of Salt at 3 followed by Manish at 4, Rossouw/Powell at 5, Porel/Sarfaraz at 6 & Axar at 7.
DC's has faced Middle order collapses in both matches & Manish could help resolve it.

Are these guys professional cricketers?. Wasn’t he aware of schedule. Is it a joke to go and come back?. Could not the wedding have taken place before or after IPL. With the kind of form he has shown in last 2 matches, the team can ask him to finish honeymoon and be there.
