Legendary Australian cricketer Glenn McGrath discussed how teams may counteract England’s new strategy in Test matches, saying it will be fascinating to watch how it functions when bowlers put pressure on them. Due to their coach Brendon McCullum’s moniker, the English team’s new aggressive style, dubbed “Bazball,” has shocked the cricketing world.

In recent tests against New Zealand and India, respectively, England was able to put on a show for their supporters by easily chasing down large fourth-inning totals. According to McGrath, there are more opportunities to take wickets if the batters are always trying to score and challenging the bowlers, as reported on the Apex Cricket Council’s official website.

The Australian speedster acknowledged that England’s Bazball strategy got off to a good start, but he said that it would be intriguing to see how they handle pressure and finish up on the back foot. “If the batters are looking to score and challenge the bowlers, obviously there are more chances of taking wickets. It’s about bowling good plans, being able to execute your plans and bowl to the field you have,” McGrath was quoted as saying.

“England has started well, they showed a great attitude in those four Test matches where they won chasing big totals in the fourth innings. While things are going well, it looks great. But it’s not always going to happen that way. A couple of times if the bowling side takes early wickets puts pressure on them and bowls them out while they’re still attacking, it’s going to be interesting to see how it goes. I like teams to back themselves. With the bat, but also with the ball. Bowlers need to work out how to bowl to more aggressive batsmen,” the 53-year-old opined.

Australia defeated England 4-0 to claim the most recent Ashes series. England last took home the Ashes in 2015, a 3-0 victory over Australia. The series ended in a 2-2 tie the previous time these two clubs faced off in England.
