Indian cricket fans got anxious after they came to know that Jasprit Bumrah might not play in the 20-20 World Cup 2022. After all, he is the lead pacer in the team. Also, not to forget, Bumrah can bowl with the new ball and in the death overs. His services were missed during the Asia Cup 2022 in which the Men In Blue failed to qualify for the final.

During the continental tournament, the team couldn’t defend runs in the death overs. The fans were happy to see Bumrah join the team for the T20I series against Australia. During the series, the 28-year-old played two games and did well. However, ahead of the first T20I against South Africa, he complained of back pain which is why he didn’t play.

“Jasprit Bumrah complained of back pain during India’s practice session on Tuesday,” the BCCI said on Twitter after the toss of the first T20I against South Africa. “The BCCI medical team assessed him. He is ruled out of the first #INDvSA T20I.”

On September 29, it was reported that the Ahmedabad-born player was ruled out of the showpiece event starting on October 16. A BCCI official said that the right-arm pacer might be out of the game for a few months.

“Bumrah is not going to play the World T20 for sure. He has a serious back condition,” the BCCI official was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo. “It’s a stress fracture and he could be out for a period of six months.”
