The Indian wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha has recently been a part of the Indian T20 League 2022 title-winning team, Gujarat. He played a major role as the opener of the team throughout the tournament.

But in what comes in as a piece of big news, Saha is set to change sides in the domestic circuit of Indian cricket. He is a part of the Bengal team in the Ranji Trophy competition. But recently he expressed his unwillingness to be part of the team for the crucial quarterfinal encounter. Still, he was named on the side.

The president of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) Avishek Dalimya and the Head Coach of the team, Arun Lal have tried to convince the player to stay back. But apparently, Saha is adamant about leaving the team after he spent about a decade and a half with the team. It is learned that Saha is in talks with some other state associations but he has not yet finalized on where to migrate.

Speaking about the development Saha said to Sportstar- “Since I had made up my mind that I won’t play for Bengal, I had informed over phone. But I will meet him (Avishek Dalmiya) in person and finalize the formalities.”

For me too it is a very sad feeling that I have to go through something like this after playing for Bengal for so long. It is disappointing that people make such comments and question your integrity. As a player, I had never faced such a thing in the past, but now that it has happened, even I need to.”- Saha added.

In February, Saha was dropped from the Indian test team ahead of the home series against Sri Lanka. The player revealed that Head Coach Rahul Dravid has asked him to consider retirement as the team management is planning to look ahead and groom a young player for the future.

However, Saha denied thinking about retirement even if he is not a part of the national setup. The cricketer was also recently involved in a controversy where he unearthed senior journalist Boria Majumdar threatening him for not giving a scheduled interview.
