Virender Sehwag PBKS vs DC

Former India opening batter Virender Sehwag expressed his jubilation as the Punjab Kings secured a victory over the Delhi Capitals, attributing their success to the exceptional performances of Prabhsimran Singh and Harpreet Brar. In a post-match interview with Cricbuzz, Sehwag highlighted that this was the first time the Punjab Kings had won a match solely due to the efforts of Punjabi players. Prabhsimran’s remarkable century, scoring 103 runs off just 65 balls, which included 10 boundaries and six sixes, marked a memorable milestone in his IPL career and played a crucial role in Punjab’s triumph.

“This is the first time that Punjab won due to the Punjabis. Be it Prabhsimran or Brar, both of them play for PCA and PBKS, and won the game for their side with wonderful displays,” said Sehwag.

Sehwag showered accolades on both Prabhsimran and Brar, acknowledging their association with the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) and the Punjab Kings (PBKS). He lauded their splendid performances, recognizing their pivotal contributions in securing the victory for their team. Sehwag’s praise for Brar reached new heights as he compared the delivery that dismissed Manish Pandey to Shane Warne’s iconic “ball of the century.” Brar’s superb bowling spell saw him claim the wickets of David Warner, Phil Salt, Rilee Rossouw, and Manish Pandey, effectively dismantling the Delhi Capitals’ batting order in the game held in New Delhi.

Sehwag critical of DC’s batting

Sehwag also criticized the Delhi Capitals’ batting display, considering it to be below par, and highlighted that the match slipped away from their grasp when they lost wickets in quick succession. The combination of Brar and Rahul Chahar, who collectively took six wickets during the middle overs, played a pivotal role in turning the tide of the game in favor of the Punjab Kings. Sehwag expressed his belief that if the Delhi Capitals’ batsmen had displayed more patience, given the availability of runs, the outcome might have been different.

“When those four wickets fell, the match slipped away from DC’s hand. It was a poor batting display from DC. If the DC batters had shown patience, because the runs were there, the result could’ve been different,” said Sehwag.

With their victory at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, the Punjab Kings now prepare for a rematch against the Delhi Capitals at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala on May 17.
