‘Had he played against Netherlands, Zimbabwe, Bangladesh, he…’ – Mohd. Amir takes huge dig at Babar Azam while appreciating Virat Kohli
Pakistan’s former fast bowler Mohammed Amir recently took a huge dig at Pakistan’s current captain, Babar Azam, as he gave heaps of praise to Virat Kohli for his batting style. Notably, Mohammed Amir had dismissed Virat Kohli multiple times in his career and has always admired him for his game.
Amir believes had Virat played against less experienced teams like the Netherlands, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe, he would have easily broken Sachin Tendulkar’s record of most centuries in international cricket. Amir indirectly taunted Babar Azam, who has scored most of his centuries against less experienced teams and fails to score against successful teams like India, Australia etc.

“I don’t know why people keep comparing Virat Kohli; any comparison is stupid. Secondly, you have to look at the player’s intent. He was playing ball-to-ball (against Sri Lanka), and he was trying. Had he played multiple series against Netherlands, Zimbabwe, and Bangladesh, he would have broken Sachin’s records by now,” said Mohammed Amir.
“Everything is calculated when Virat Kohli plays; he knows who is around him. During run chases, he is 10/10; he knows when to attack; he knows when he has to hit it for a six; he is a special player; and in this era, there is no better player than him. It is wrong to talk of him in this way,” added Imad Wasim on the chat show.
Abdul Razzaq said, “It is important to note how the non-striker is playing. It is not right to say, but if Imam-ul-Haq was playing alongside Virat Kohli, then it would have caused problems.”
A Few weeks ago Mohammed Amir talked about Virat Kohli’s greatness and said, “The Champions Trophy final will always remain close to my heart. That was such a wonderful game and a one-sided one. Pakistan won that comfortably. Dismissing Virat was a big moment for me. When he (Virat) was dropped (by Azhar Ali), I was disappointed but off the very next ball I wanted to get rid of him and I did that. As a cricketer, I am a huge fan of Virat Kohli’s. I always say Virat is the best player of this era. Dismissing him was the best moment for me.”
