Former Indian spin legend Harbhajan Singh has lauded the selection of Sanju Samson in the Indian ODI squad. The 43-year-old hailed the Indian selectors after the team was announced on late Thursday evening.

The Indian cricket fans were aghast when Sanju Samson wasn’t named in the squad for the T20 series versus Australia. The 29-year-old has given his best and shown his full talents with the bat and behind the stumps in the limited opportunities that have come his way.

‘It’s Good News’ exclaims Harbhajan Singh after Sanju Samson’s selection –

Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh was happy with Sanju Samson getting a spot in the Indian ODI team. KL Rahul is set to captain Team India during the ODI series.

Harbhajan Singh while speaking on his YouTube Channel said “There is Sanju Samson [in ODIs]. It’s good news. Wicketkeeper-batsman because he is always the topic of why Samson is not getting picked. I am happy to see Sanju Samson, Tilak Varma, and Rajat Patidar getting opportunities. Deepak Chahar has made his comeback”

The former Indian spinner also spoke about the non-selection of Yashasvi Jaiswal in the ODI format. Yashasvi Jaiswal has already played in the test and T20 format for India and is yet to play in the ODI format.

Here is what Harbhajan Singh said on Yashasvi Jaiswal “Let’s talk about Yashasvi Jaiswal. He is not part of this team. I think he should be part of this team [ODIs] as well. [He’s] A quality and tremendous player. The team is looking at him in Tests and T20Is but not in ODIs. There are a lot of flaws (in the selection process) that I can’t fathom”

Yuzvendra Chahal is back in the Indian team after he was recalled into the ODI side and Harbhajan Singh wasn’t impressed with this move. “There is no Yuzvendra Chahal in T20 format. You kept him in ODIs but not T20Is. Lollypop de diya hai bande ko (They just gave him a lollypop to suck on). We won’t take in the format where you do well but will take for other formats. It’s beyond my understanding”

Speaking about the exclusion of Ajinkya Rahane, Cheteshwar Pujara, and Umesh Yadav, the former Indian spinner questioned the move. According to the 43-year-old, while youth getting a chance is good the experienced trio cannot be forgotten after years of yeoman service to Indian Cricket.
