The Indian cricket team management is expected to call up their attacking opening batsmen, Ruturaj Gaikwad or Yashasvi Jaiswal as back up for Shubman Gill. Shubman Gill has been down with heavy fever as he is suffering from dengue. Last night Shubham was admitted to the hospital in Chennai as his platelet count dropped below one lakh.

Shubman Gill was previously ruled out from India’s first and second match against Australia and Afghanistan and is now expected to miss the high intensity encounter against Pakistan On 14 October in Ahmedabad, which is Shubman one of the favorite games to play at.

Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a magnificent century in the Asian games, while Ruturaj Gaikwad led the squad towards the gold medal. It will be interesting to see Whom will the Indian cricket board pick as backup for Shubman Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad or Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Close Source gives Shubman Gill’s recovery updates

As per the source, nothing alarming or threatening, has happened in Shubman Gill’s case, but he needs adequate rest, he said “Gill’s platelet count dropped below 1,00,000 and he was hospitalized a day before – October 8 – for observation purpose. Nothing alarming there as he is already back in the hotel on October 9 and continues to receive treatment there. Ever since he has landed in Chennai, all his treatment – from regular dose of glucose and other procedures – has been happening in hotel only.”

“Travel to Delhi would have meant consulting a new facility and doctor in Delhi. The management didn’t want that to happen and kept him back in Chennai to avoid any needless travel too. He is expected to join the team only when clearance comes from the doctor. Right now, he is under constant watch of the Indian cricket board medical team and the doctors in Chennai, who have been treating him ever since he came to Chennai,” he told CricketNext.

“Gill’s vital signs are improving and he is on the right path of recovery – 70-80% recovered. Difficult to say when he will return but things are looking good,” concluded the source.
