The recently concluded Indian Premier League 2023, has been one of the most watched and followed seasons of the prestigious tournament. The tournament started with an exciting game between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans and ended with CSK winning the trophy. However, in between we saw many crazy performances and verbal banters.

One of the most famous or we can say infamous verbal spats was between India batter Virat Kohli and Afghanistan pacer Naveen-Ul-Haq. Both were indulged in a verbal spat during LSG vs RCB game at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. However, no one opened up about the fight and things went in vain. But now Afghani pacer Naveen-Ul-Haq accused Virat Kohli of triggering the fight.

He said, “He (Kohli) shouldn’t have said all those things during the match and after it. I didn’t start the fight. After the match, when we were shaking hands, Virat Kohli started the fight. I just want to say one thing I generally don’t sledge anyone, and even if I do I would say it to the batters only when I am bowling because I am a bowler. In that match, I didn’t utter a single word. I didn’t sledge anyone,” Naveen told BBC Pashto.

“I am also a human”, says Naveen-Ul-Haq

Naveen further spoke about the incident at the handshake and alleged Kohli grabbed his hands forcibly. He said, “Players who were there, they know how I dealt with the situation. I never lost my temper, when I was batting or after the match. What I did after the match can be seen by everyone. I was just shaking hands and then he (Kohli) grabbed my hand forcefully and I am also a human being and I reacted.”

Notably, after the handshake incident Virat Kohli and LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir also got indulged in verbal banters as both were trying to prove his side correct. However, after the game Kohli, Gambhir and Naveen-Ul-Haq were fined for violating IPL laws. Notably, Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir are yet to open up about the incident.
