‘He is as good as anyone in any conditions..’ – Brendon McCullum blasts at questions asked about Jonny Bairstow
England’s condition is bad after two consecutive defeats against the Indian team. The English media and former cricketers are attacking their players. However, Jonny Bairstow is the new target for his poor forms in the last 3 Tests. When questions were asked about him, the England team’s head coach Brendon McCullum got irritated.
England are in chaos after a massive defeat of 434 runs. Players who fail are the target of the media. Meanwhile, the team’s head coach and former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum has given his support to Jonny Bairstow. He believes that Bairstow can perform well in any situation.
Bairstow’s highest score is 37 in the last six innings
McCullum’s comments came after England’s 434-run defeat in the Rajkot Test. Bairstow has struggled in Indian conditions. He scored a total of 102 runs with an average of 17 in the last three Tests, while his career Test average is 36. Despite calls for Bairstow’s ouster, McCullum stressed the importance of giving him confidence and ignoring outside criticism. McCullum said, “We know that he is a player who can perform brilliantly against any team in any situation.”
“I’m not blind but he’s done so well for us. We know that a top-quality Jonny Bairstow is as good as anyone in any conditions, so we’ve got to keep on giving him confidence and block out a lot of the external noise,” McCullum added.
Bairstow also received support from former England captain Michael Atherton, who stressed the need to support Bairstow during this crucial time of the series. He said “He will return to form soon”, Everything he has done is about trying to give his players security and a feeling that they will be fully supported,” Atherton said.
Bairstow’s performance in the ongoing series against India has been a topic of discussion. Both McCullum and Atherton are confident in his ability to overcome his challenges. As Bairstow continues to strive for success in Indian conditions, his teammates and former captain stand by him.
