‘He was supposed to be next Faf’: Twitter troll Chennai for dropping Devon Conway after one game

Lucknow is facing Chennai in the 7^th match of the Indian T20 League at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. Both Chennai and Lucknow are coming into the match with defeats in their first match of the season.

Lucknow won the toss and decided to field first. Ravindra Jadeja the skipper of Chennai mentioned in the pre-match conversation that they too would have looked field first. Then he announced that the team has gone in with three changes for the match. One of the changes was a forced one, as Adam Milne has to sit out because of a side strain. The other two players who are rested for the match are Mitchell Santner and Devon Conway. The players replacing them are Mukesh Choudhury, Dwaine Pretorius, and Moeen Ali.

Among the three changes, fans were surprised by the decision of the team to drop Devon Conway. Devon Conway averages over 50 in T20 cricket, which is not a small feat given the volatility of the format. Notably, Conway just scored 3 runs in the first match for Chennai. But Chennai is a franchise generally known to back its players. So, dropping Conway created discontent among the fans and also surprised them. The fans soon took to Twitter to express themselves. Some were also of the opinion that Conway could have been the next Michael Hussey for the team, but it was unfair on the part of the franchise to drop him after a single poor display.
