Commonwealth Games 2022 is all set to begin on 28 July 2022. In this mega event, India will look to make headlines as athletes are going to give their 100%. Players like PV Sindhu, and Lakshya Sen will look to create history in this upcoming event by bringing glory to India.

But, a major setback got confirmed on 26 July 2022 as India’s golden boy, Neeraj Chopra is all set to miss this event in England. The IOA General Secretary Rajeev Mehta confirmed that he will miss the CWG 2022 as he is not 100% fit. Earlier this week, Neeraj became the first Indian male and second Indian athlete to win a medal at the Worlds Athletics Championships.

Neeraj Chopra will miss the CWG 2022 for a groin injury

In his men’s javelin throw event, Chopra came up with a throw of 88.13m in his fourth attempt. This throw was enough for him to secure the second spot in the final. But, during that attempt, he felt something in his groin he confirmed that after the final. He also said that it affected his remaining two throws. However, Neeraj said that he would know by the next morning how it feels and if it was something to worry about. Now,  the Indian Olympic Association confirmed the news of his unavailability at this big event.

In his absence, it will be a huge blow for India as he was a front-runner to win a medal for India. Now, DP Manu and Rohit Yadav will represent India in Javelin Throw. As per reports, Neeraj has confirmed the news. Medical representatives advised a month’s rest for a full recovery. This news came as a shock for all his fans.
