India and England will square up against each other in the fifth and last Test of the series, starting 1st July 2022. India are currently sitting at the number three position as far as World Test Championship points table is concerned. They have 77 points to their name and boast of a 58.33 percentage point.

A win in the fourth Test match against England will strengthen their chances of reaching the finals of the WTC. A draw in the fourth Test won’t be too bad either as India would still manage to win the series. Currently, South Africa and Australia are occupying the top two spots on the points table.

India, however, still are very much in contention of finishing at the top of the points table. India have an away tour in Bangladesh and Australia will be visiting India in 2022.

India’s win in the fifth Test will give them a great boost in percentage points. At the time of writing, India have a 58.33 percentage points, while Australia are sitting at the top with 75 percentage points. India’s win against England will give them a major boost in percentage points. In the coming months, India will be playing two Tests against Bangladesh and 4 Tests against Australia.

On the other hand, Australia will be facing Afghanistan in a one-off Test and West Indies in two games before taking on India in a four-match Test series. South Africa will be playing three Tests against England, followed by two Tests against West Indies. They will be playing the last Test series against Australia. India will have a great chance of reaching the world Test championship final if they manage to beat Australia by a 4-0 or 3-1 margin. England and New Zealand’s chances of making it to the finals is highly unlikely.

Rohit Sharma and Co. will face Bangladesh in a two-match Test series and will be followed by a four-match home series against Australia next year.

The result of the Australia series could eventually decide India’s fate in the final standings. As of now, neither the teams for the final are decided nor the venue. Lord’s Cricket Ground is likely to be the venue for the summit clash but the official decision is yet to be made.
