Danish Kaneria, a former Pakistani spinner, predicted that Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav would soon regain his form. In India’s 10-wicket loss against Australia in the second one-day international of the three-match series in Visakhapatnam, Suryakumar was dismissed for a golden duck.

Speaking on his Youtube channel, Kaneria predicted that despite Suryakumar’s current slump in performance, he is a terrific player and will soon find his form again. Despite being the best T20I hitter in the world, Suryakumar has had trouble adjusting to India’s ODI team.

“Suryakumar Yadav is in the middle of a bad patch. He is a fantastic player and will roar back to form soon. You need to give players some time when they are going through such a phase,” said Kaneria.

The 42-year-old added that it is now time for Suryakumar to rise again and predicted that he would return with a bang when he regains his form.

“When he regains his form, he is going to come back with a bang. I am sure we will get to see another classic knock from him in the third ODI. Now is the time for Suryakumar to rise high again,” Kaneria added.

He continued by saying that if Suryakumar didn’t improve, India might consider replacing him with wicket-keeper batter Sanju Samson. In both of India’s ODI matches against Australia, Suryakumar went out for ducks.

“If Suryakumar Yadav continues to struggle in ODIs, India should try out Sanju Samson. He should be added back to the team. That won’t mean that Suryakumar will lose his place. It would give him some time to work on his game,” said Kaneria.

Australia tied the ODI series at 1-1 after winning in Vizag. On March 22, the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai will host the third and final game of the series. By winning the ODI series, the Kangaroos will become the world’s number-one-ranked ODI side. Earlier in the tour, Australia lost their fourth consecutive Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test series against India by a series scoreline of 2-1, with the final Test in Ahmedabad ending as a draw.
