Indian seam bowler Mohammad Siraj made the Asia Cup 2023 final his own. The 29-year-old not only won the game but also the hearts. Siraj picked career-best 6/21 in the final to bowl out Sri Lanka for just 50 runs. The Indian bowler then gave away his player of the match award to show his love to the Sri Lankan ground staff.

India won the Asia Cup title for the 8th time as they beat Sri Lanka in the final by ten wickets. The match was one-sided, to begin with as the Indian team was showing their class with the ball.

Mohammad Siraj’s heart-winning gesture floors everyone

Ravi Shastri was manning the presentation ceremony and the man of the match was given to Mohammed Siraj. The Indian bowler was all smiles as he took the award and spoke about his match-winning spell.

The moment of the day was yet to come as Siraj gave away his cash prize to the ground staff. The crowd cheered their approval as the star pacer from India won their hearts. Siraj while speaking to Ravi Shastri said this for the effort of the ground staff. The Indian pacer also acknowledged the role of the ground staff in the smooth functioning of the matches.

India was asked to bowl after Dasun Shanka won the toss. Both the teams made one change each. The start was delayed for nearly 40 minutes as light drizzle was followed by a short spell of rain.

Once the rain stopped falling, it was the Sri Lankan wickets which fell in a heap. Kusal Perera was out for a duck. The Sri Lankan opener was out to Jasprit Bumrah caught by KL Rahul.

Mohammad Siraj then rocked the Lankan batting as he grabbed four wickets in the 4th over. The 29-year-old got Pathum Nissanka, Samarawickrama, Asalanka, and De Silva in one over. Siraj then got his 5th wicket when he bowled Shanaka for a duck. The right-arm pacer then got his 6th wicket when he bowled Kusal Mendis for 17.

Hardik Pandya also chipped in with 3 wickets for 3 runs as he got the wicket of Wellalage. Chasing 51 to win, India got the score in 6.1 overs with Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill the not-out batters.
