The award night for the Indian cricketers was held in Hyderabad. The men’s and women’s cricket teams from India and England attended the event. There were several local players and cricket legends present as well. Moreover, the event was hosted by Harsha Bhogle. The esteemed lifetime achievement award went to former India all-rounder and World Cup winner Ravi Shastri, who also served as head coach. In his 150 One-Day Internationals and 80 Tests, Ravi Shastri amassed 6938 runs—15 hundreds—while representing India in cricket.

At the highest level, he took 280 wickets for the Indian team. The left-arm spinner played a key in both India’s 1985 Champions of Champions victory and their 1983 World Cup victory. Shubman Gill, the opening batsman for India, finished an incredible season by winning the men’s category title of Best International Cricketer.

In the latest rankings, Gill displaced Babar Azam of Pakistan as the number one player. Mohammed Shami and Ravichandran Ashwin were named the Polly Umrigar Award winners for the 2019–2020 and 2021–21 seasons. Yashasvi Jaiswal, a young lad, was awarded Best International Debut.

India vs. England test series to start on January 25

India is set to play the first home test series of the year on January 25 in Hyderabad. England team have arrived three days before the commencement of the first test. As the series is about to start, fans receive shocking news. Virat Kohli is unavailable for the first two tests and will come back to play the last three matches. The officials haven’t released the reason as to why Kohli opted out of the tests.

Moreover, the selection committee hasn’t declared a replacement for Kohli as of now. Players like Ajinkya Rahane, Cheteswar Pujara, Rajat Patidar, and many more can replace Kohli in the first two matches. However, it will be intriguing to observe what decisions the selectors will take in terms of picking up players.
