Ishan Kishan, the Indian wicket-keeper batter, is still not playing in international cricket. Former South Africa captain AB de Villiers highlights the need for the selectors and the young player to have effective communication. The 25-year-old, who was previously seen to be among the leading names in the emerging Indian cricket scene, hasn’t worn his national uniform since pulling out of India’s Test series against South Africa in December citing mental exhaustion.

AB de Villiers while talking on his YouTube video said, “So, whether Ishan is doing it wrong or other players are doing it right or wrong, I do not know but what needs to happen is proper communication. So, the players know exactly what, not only proper communication but proper and regular communication.”

Moreover, instead of playing Ranji or international cricket, Ishan was seen practising with the Pandya brothers in Baroda. He has attracted a lot of criticism because of his absence from International cricket. While the cricket experts have criticised him, fans have shown their support towards his decision to take care of his mental health. Keeping everything aside, the fans are hoping to see their favourite player back in the team.

‘Very interesting scenario there in India’ – AB de Villiers spoke about managing T20 leagues and International matches

AB de Villiers, known as Mr. 360, supports the decision to take breaks between tournaments. Moreover, he also addressed the recent issue of how young players are preferring to play IPL or other T20 leagues rather than International matches. As a lot of T20 leagues are coming up, it becomes difficult for players to choose and they end up playing the leagues.

“Very interesting scenario there in India and I have been through this quite a bit throughout my career as well. It is a very tricky situation. Players trying to manage their careers, and rightfully so, but the difficulty around this is that there are a lot of T20 leagues around the world, IPL, and it’s taking up a lot of attention…of the player’s focus is on that.”
