“I know you will continue to protect me”: Rishabh Pant’s emotional message to his father

Rishabh Pant made his entry into Indian cricket as an aggressive middle-order batter and keeper. His aggressive approach earned him criticism at the initial stages of his career as the cricketing fraternity felt that his aggression was sometimes unnecessary and cost his team the match. But the recent maturity and development he has shown in his approach have earned him the tag of a match-winner. The cricketer has evolved a lot as a player in the last few months.
The cricketer recently took to his Instagram and expressed his gratitude and respect for his father with an emotional message. In a recent interview, he spoke about the contribution his father has behind his successful career. Notably, Rishabh’s father passed away due to a cardiac arrest on the 5th of April 2017. Rishabh penned an emotional message for his father ahead of his fifth death anniversary.
When his father passed away in 2017, he went back to his hometown Roorkee to perform the last rites. But he returned in time to play in the opening fixture for Delhi against Bangalore in the Indian T20 League 2017. Notably, he smashed a 33 ball half-century in that match, which earned him applauds from the cricketing fraternity. The innings were significant because of the internal emotional turmoil Rishabh was going through. On 3rd April, Pant posted a message remembering his father on Instagram.
“He loved me for who I was and accepted me for who I was striving to become. Dads are strong for a reason. Their strength gives us a sense of protection. Now that you are in heaven dad, I know you will continue to protect me. Thanks for being my dad. I will always love and miss you until we meet again. – Pant wrote in his post.
