India skipper Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja joined hands on Day Two of the ongoing first Test against Australia. The latter came in after the home team lost five wickets for 168, in reply to Australia’s 177 all-out. At this stage, the duo stitched a partnership of 61 runs. Meanwhile, during the partnership, Jadeja played a forward defense but the ball hit the pad first before the bat.

The visitors’ spinner, Todd Murphy, and other close-in fielders appealed for the lbw. However, the on-field umpire turned down the appeal. In reply, the visitors after consultation with each other decided to challenge the decision. After the ball tracker showed that the impact of the ball on the pads was a 50-50 call, the fielding team couldn’t believe their luck. After this, Sharma was seen having a look that suggested ‘I told you so’.

Rohit Sharma hit his maiden Test century against Australia

Meanwhile, in the ongoing game, the 35-year-old hit his maiden Test hundred against Australia. Despite him hitting eight hundred in the longest format, he didn’t hit a Test ton against the Kangaroos. Meanwhile, in the ongoing game when none of the top-six batters could hit a fifty, Sharma brought up his Test ton. His innings helped the team gain a lead in the game.

After him, Jadeja hit a fifty and might have hit his third Test hundred if not for him misjudging a straight one from Murphy. The all-rounder amassed 70 runs off 185 balls including nine fours. After Sharma was cleaned by his opposite number Pat Cummins, Jadeja, and Axar Patel out together 88 runs for the eighth wicket. At the time of writing, India has reached 400/9 with Patel batting on 84 runs. He is just 16 runs away from his maiden Test ton.
