‘I understand the criticism because…’ – Former South African legend comments on selection of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in T20I squad for Afghanistan
The Hall of Famer for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), AB de Villiers holds a unique connection with Indian cricket. Recently, the former South African legend offered his assessment of India’s squad for the Afghanistan series. While discussions about Rohit and Kohli’s inclusion were debatable, de Villiers had a different perspective on two of India’s most exceptional batters in modern-day cricket.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the washed-away SA20 opener between Sunrisers Eastern Cape and Joburg Super Kings, De Villiers had expressed that he is very happy for Virat and Rohit. Their inclusion in the team for the Afghanistan series does not come as a surprise to him because the team wants its best players to try and win the World Cup. He understands the criticism because of the youngsters who may be missing out.

Virat grew up with cricket in his blood: AB de Villiers
The former South African skipper also mentioned that he was in a similar position at the back end of his career, but it did not work out for him.
