‘I was asked to resign from captaincy…’ – Former India cricketer Hanuma Vihari reveals reason behind his exit from Andhra Pradesh Team; Gets called out by Politician’s son

Former India player, Hanuma Vihari opens up about the injustice that happened to him during the Ranji Trophy in 2024. He took to Instagram to share his side of the story as he was sacked from the captaincy right after chasing a massive target of 410 runs against last year’s finalists, in Bengal. As per Vihari, the Andra Pradesh State Association asked him to resign from the captaincy after he fought with a player who is the son of a politician. The unfortunate incident happened during the match against Bengal in the Ranji Trophy 2024.

Vihari wrote on his Instagram post, “Although we chased 410 against last year’s finalists Bengal, I was asked to resign from captaincy without any fault of mine. I never said anything on a personal note to the player but the association thought that player was more important than the guy who gave his body on the line last year and batted left handed, took Andhra to knock outs 5 times in the last 7 years and played for India in 16 tests.”

Moreover, after resigning from captaincy, Ricky Bhui announced himself as the captain of Andhra Pradesh. The team exited from the Ranji season‘s quarter-finals after losing against Madhya Pradesh. Following that, Vihari opened up about the issue.

KN Prudhvi Raj, who is yet to make his First Class debut called out Hanuma Vihari after the former India player opened up about their fight. Although Vihari hadn’t disclosed the player’s name in his post, Prudhviraj came forward and posted his side of the story on his Instagram account.

KN Prudhvi Raj wrote on his Instagram story, “I am that guy you are searching in that comment box. Whatever you guys heard is absolutely false, no one is higher than the game and my self-respect is much bigger than anything. Personal attacks and vulgar language is unacceptable in any platform.  Everyone in the team knows what has happened that day. Play this sympathy game, however you want.”
