‘I’m just thinking about lifting something shiny’ – New Zealand pacer Trent Boult on wanting to win ODI World Cup
The New Zealand fast bowler Trent Boult, who had rejected an annual national contract in the previous year, is now expecting a massive breakthrough by his stellar performance in the upcoming ODI World Cup, 2023.
Trent Boult is back in the Kiwis’ squad for the ODIs and will play his first ODI match after a year in New Zealand’s upcoming 4 ODI match series against England.
Trent Boult has been a lethal weapon for the New Zealand cricket team. Backed by the support of Kyle Jamieson, Lockie Ferguson, Matt Henry, and Tim Southee, the New Zealand pace attack will be an interesting competition for all the teams’ batting lineups.

“I’ve been dying to still be in the black shirt over the last wee while, but with the decision I made, it’s opened the door for selection for other players and I’ve had to respect that,” Boult told Ian Smith on SENZ Mornings.
“I’m grateful that I’ve got the chance to move across to England, and then hopefully the World Cup to play a big role, which I’m desperate to do.”
“I’m excited to hear some commentary from you (Smithy) that’s not including ‘the barest of margins and pushing for this trophy just a little bit harder,” said Boult.
“It wasn’t an easy decision to make just over a year ago to move away from the New Zealand cricket bubble. I never wanted it to be about New Zealand or franchise cricket. I just tried to make the most of my remaining years as a bowler. (I am) definitely as hungry as ever to still represent the country,”
“Life’s short, make the most of everything. It has been an exciting 12 months or so on the road. I had a great time out there, lifting the trophy with MI New York (MLC). I still respect the international game immensely; it plays a big role in any kid trying to come through and play cricket as a dream. The idea of a World Cup is still the pinnacle in my opinion as well,”
