IND vs NZ: Suryakumar Yadav likely to be included in Test squad – Reports
Suryakumar Yadav is likely to be drafted into the India side for the upcoming two-match Test series against New Zealand starting on Thursday (November 25). Yadav looked in good form in the three-match T20I series and also won the Player of the Match award in the first T20I. His form and ability to play spin well might have forced the selectors to consider him for the Test squad.
Yadav is yet to make his Test debut. He, however, was part of India’s last overseas assignment against England. Ever since he made his international debut for India in the shortest format, the right-hand batter has managed to grab eyeballs. His fearless approach and X-factor ability is what sets him apart from the others. “Suryakumar will be making a comeback to the Test team. He will join India’s Test team in Kanpur from Kolkata,” a source told Mid-Day on Monday.
Meanwhile, the New Zealand squad will see a few of the Test regulars return. The likes of Neil Wagner, Tom Latham, and Ross Taylor will play red-ball cricket after close to five months. Skipper Kane Williamson and Kyle Jamieson will also return for the Tests after missing the T20Is.
The Indian side will be led by Ajinkya Rahane for the first Test match. Virat Kohli is expected to return for the second game. New Zealand have never beaten India in India in Test series.
