India keen on co hosting 2034 Football World Cup along with Saudi Arabia
Indian Football Association has shown its interest in co-hosting the Football World Cup 2034 along with Saudi Arabia. The Middle East nation was the sole bidder to host the Football World Cup 2034. In recent times, hosting a big tournament has been more of a burden than a profit. We do not see the excitement in bidding from the teams anymore, which was present in the past.
It has led to the share of powers in the Football world. The Football World Cup which is set to take place in 2030 will see three continents hosting it. For the celebration of 100 years of the Football WC, it was announced that teams like Argentina, Venezuela, and Uruguay might get an opportunity to host a few games from their part.
It has led to India thinking of co-hosting the Football WC 2034, along with Saudi Arabia. Asian Football Committee has shown its support for Saudi Arabia hosting the tournament, like India. The 2034 WC will feature 104 matches, as a total of a whopping 48 teams will be taking part in it. India has shown its interest in hosting about 10 games in the big tournament.
‘India should think or plan to work towards being a co-host for the World Cup in 2034’ – AIFF Draft
The AIFF president Kalyan Chaubey told the media personnel on the 9th of December that India would be looking to host some matches in the tournament. “The president informed the house that India should think or plan to work towards being a co-host for the World Cup in 2034,” the draft said. It is to be seen if Saudi Arabia accepts the deal with India and allows them to co-host the tournament.
As the Football World Cup 2030 was set to be jointly hosted by 3 continents – Europe, Africa, and South America, the World Football body decided to allow Asia and Oceania to host the 2034 World Cup. India had backed out of hosting the Asian Cup 2027. Saudi Arabia is one of the co-hosts for the tournament. If India gets a chance to co-host the tournament, it will be big news for the fans of the sport in the country.
