The Indian athletes have registered a new record for the country as they registered a hundred medals for the first time in the continental multi-sport event, the Asian Games, 2023, which is being conducted in Hangzhou, China from 23 September to 8 October 2023.
India has won 100 medals in the Asian Games for the first time in the history of the tournament as they beat their previous record of 70 medals in the previous edition of the Asian Games, 2018, which was conducted in Indonesia. As of now, India has won 27 Gold medals, 35 silver medals and 40 bronze medals. These medals have been brought by events conducted for men, women and even mixed events.
The male athletes have won 49 medals for the country including 12 gold medals, 17 silver, medals, and 18 bronze medals. The women athletes have won 44 medals for the country, including 9 gold medals, 18 silver, medals, and 19 bronze medals. Finally, seven medals have been received in the mixed events across multiple sports in the Asian Games, 2023.

India’s prime minister Narendra Modi also congratulated all the athletes representing India in the Asian Games, 2023 for their valuable contribution towards the medal tally.
On his social media account, the prime minister called the athletes an inspiration for all the citizens and said, “A momentous achievement for India at the Asian Games! The people of India are thrilled that we have reached a remarkable milestone of 100 medals. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to our phenomenal athletes whose efforts have led to this historic milestone for India. Every awe-inspiring performance has made history and filled our hearts with pride. I look forward to hosting our Asian Games contingent on the 10th and interacting with our athletes.”
