After winning the third T20I in the series, India kept the hope alive for a series win over the Proteas with two more matches to go. India is scheduled to lock horns with them again in the fourth T20I on Friday (17 June 2022) in Rajkot. India will look to win this match for equalizing the series to make the fifth and final match a series decider.
Speaking of the previous match in Visakhapatnam, India was asked again to bat first by the South African skipper, Temba Bavuma. Both openers, Ishan Kishan (54 off 35 balls) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (57 off 35 balls) played brilliantly and Hardik Pandya’s late blitz (31* off 21 balls) at the end of the innings put India with a score of 179 runs by losing five wickets in 20 overs. South Africa’s Dwaine Pretorius was the pick of the bowlers as his off-cutter variation came up well on that pitch. He picked up two crucial wickets by conceding only 29 runs in four overs.
In reply, South African batters failed completely to gain any momentum from the start of the innings as they got bundled out for 131 runs in 19.1 overs. Their in-form middle-order batters also failed to showcase any miracle during the chase. Both Yuzvendra Chahal and Harshal Patel bamboozled the Proteas as both of them picked up seven wickets by conceding 45 runs in 7.1 overs only. Chahal was also the player of the match after his stellar performance.
Therefore, this upcoming match will be another chance for the Proteas to wrap up the series in favour of them. On the other hand, It will be another do-or-die encounter for the men in blue as they will look to win it to level the series.
Pitch Conditions
As far as the pitch condition is concerned, the one at Rajkot is highly likely to be a flat one. Batters will find it easy to score and an excess of 180 runs will be a must for bowlers to defend. Spinners may come into play as the game progresses.
