India vs South Africa, 5th T20I: Match Preview, Head to Head, Playing XI and Broadcast Details

After coming out victorious in the fourth T20I match of the series, India will look to win this series by 3-2 over the Proteas as they are getting prepared for the final clash. India is scheduled for that match in Bengaluru on Sunday, 19 June 2022. After getting failed to win in the first two matches, India made a remarkable comeback in the last two matches to level this series fair and square.

Speaking about the last match, South African skipper Temba Bavuma won the toss again as he opted to bowl first. Due to injury concerns, Kagiso Rabada and Wayne Parnell were ruled out of the match. Players like Lungi Ngidi and Marco Jansen got the opportunities while Reeza Hendricks made way for a fit Quinton de Kock. On the other hand, India went into the match with an unchanged side.

After getting asked for batting, India was expecting a similar start from the openers, just like the third match of the series. However, they were in a spot of bother when they were struggling for 81 runs by losing four big wickets in 12.5 overs. Then, Hardik Pandya (46 off 31 balls), and Dinesh Karthik (55 off 27 balls) steadied the ship as India reach 169 runs in 20 overs by losing six wickets only.

In reply, South African batters were completely clueless as they found themselves struggling at 59 runs for five wickets in 10.2 overs. The Proteas only managed to score 87 runs in total as they lost the match by a record margin of 82 runs. Van der Dussen was the highest scorer for South Africa, scoring 20 runs off 20 deliveries. During the match, the Protea skipper Temba Bavuma was considered retired out as he felt some discomfort in his elbow. Marco Jansen was another player who got hit by a vicious bouncer from Avesh Khan while batting during the chase. Avesh Khan was the star man as he picked up four wickets in four overs by conceding only 18 runs. Dinesh Karthik was named the player of the match for scoring his maiden fifty in T20Is.

Now, after leveling this series, a blockbuster match awaits the teams and their respective fans in Bengaluru. India will look to go with the same bunch of players. While, South Africa might bring back Reeza Hendricks in place of their captain, Temba Bavuma. Leadership duties might be handed over to Quinton de Kock. Rishabh Pant will be pumped up in guiding the Indian team to another victory to ensure his first-ever series win as the captain of his country.

Pitch Conditions

As far as the pitch condition is concerned, the Chinnaswamy pitch will be suited for batters as always. Boundaries on both sides are small and the outfield is known for its fast pace. Generally, the pitch stays true to the batters in both the innings. However, a spinning track might be considered after seeing the last two matches. Then, Spinners may come into play as the game progresses.
