Indian star cricketer set to make his return for the fourth Test against Australia – Reports
After losing the third Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023, India desperately needs to win the last game of the series. The win will ensure their place in the title clash of the Global Test Championship 2021-23. Australia, on the other hand, ensured their qualification for the final after winning the Indore Test. Ahead of the series, the team needed to win only one game to ensure their place in the final.
On the other hand, the World’s Number Two Test side, India, now needs to win the Ahmedabad Test to qualify. If they fail to win, they would need New Zealand to beat Sri Lanka in at least one of two Test match series that will follow pretty soon. Meanwhile, it is now reported that Mohammed Shami might come back to the team for the fourth Test.
He was rested for the Indore Test that last only two days and the morning of the third day. During the game, Umesh Yadav was the only pacer to take three wickets in the game. For Australia, Mitchell Starc took one wicket. Spinners from both teams dominated the game. Meanwhile, the wicket for the fourth Test match is reportedly expected to aid the pace bowling. In the last two Tests, India’s batting struggled against spin.
Not to forget, the wicket at the Narendra Modi Stadium is known to be bouncy and helpful for the pacers. The last year’s Indian T20 League final was one example. The wicket saw pacers from both teams enjoying their bowling. If that’s the case, the likes of Mohammed Siraj and Umesh Yadav could play alongside Mohammed Shami. The game will start on March 17 with India leading the series 2-1.
