Indian T20 League 2022: Bangalore vs Chennai – Top 10 Memes

Bangalore and Chennai faced each other at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium in Pune in the Indian T20 League 2022. The four-time winners won the toss and fielded first. The Men In Red and Black started well as openers skipper Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli put up a partnership of 62 runs. du Plessis took the attack on the opposition bowlers while Kohli was playing run-a-ball innings.

du Plessis’s wicket in the eighth triggered a mini-collapse as the team went from 62/0 to 79/3 in the space of 2.3 overs. Glenn Maxwell was run out in the ninth over while Kohli got out to a peach of a delivery from Moeen Ali in the tenth over. Rajat Patidar and Mahipal Lomror steadied the innings and took the team to 123 before the former got out to Dwaine Pretorius.

Three overs later, Lomror was caught by Ruturaj Gaikwad trying to hit a full toss for a six with two overs remaining. In-form Dinesh Karthik’s 26 off 18 took the team to a fighting total of 173/8. For the Yellow Army, mystery spinner Maheesh Theekshana took three wickets while Moeen Ali took two and Pretorius took one. In reply, the defending champions had a great start as openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway scored 54 runs.

However, just like Bangalore’s innings, the fall of the first wicket meant that the team had a mini-collapse. After the fall of Gaikwad, the team went from 54/0 to 75/3 in 3.1 overs. The likes of Conway and Ali tried to steady the chase but their wickets in the 15th and 16th over respectively created a dent in the run chase. After the duo wicket’s, the required run-rate kept climbing and the team needed 39 runs of the last two overs.

At this stage, skipper MS Dhoni and Pretorius were at the crease. They could score the required runs as their side was restricted to 160/8, losing the game by 13 runs. With this loss, the four-time winners have become the second team after Mumbai to be crashed out of the tournament.
