Indian T20 League 2022: Gujarat vs Mumbai – Top 10 Memes

Gujarat and Mumbai faced each other in the 51st match of the Indian T20 League 2022 at the Braboune Stadium in Mumbai. The Hardik Pandya-led side won the toss and chose to bowl first. The Rohit Sharma-led side had two contrasting sides to their innings. They had a great start as skipper Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan stitched a partnership of 76 runs in 7.3 overs.
Even after the fall of Sharma’s wicket, the team maintained their scoring at around nine to 10 runs per over. The fall of Suryakumar Yadav and Kishan’s wicket impacted their scoring drastically. They went from 111 in 12 overs to 119 in 14.5 overs, thanks to Kieron Pollard’s painful innings of four runs off 14 balls.
Courtsey of Tim David (44* off 21), the Men in Blue and Gold reached to a respectable total of 177/6. Gujarat’s bowling, which is regarded as one of the best in the tournament, showed everyone that they have the ability to bounce back if they get hit for too many runs in the initial phase of their bowling innings.
In reply, the Indian T20 League debutants made a mockery of opposition bowling. Openers, Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill stitched a partnership of 106 runs in 12.1 overs. Saha scored 55 off 40 balls while Gill got back to form with 52 off 36. They both got out to Murugan Ashwin in the 13th over of the innings. Three overs later, Sai Sudharsan got out Hit Wicket, a rare occasion in the game.
Hardik Pandya and David Miller took the team close with their quick innings but they fell short by five runs as Mumbai found an unlikely hero in the form of Daniel Sams, who defended nine runs in the last over. With this loss, the Ahmedabad-based team has registered two back-to-back losses in the tournament, their first instance in the cash-rich league.
