With just over two months to go for the IPL 2024, there is massive excitement amongst the fans. After the end of the season, Indian fans will see their team play in the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Before the T20 mania can get going, there are a few international commitments to take care of. Team India will first host Afghanistan for a three-match T20I series starting on 11th January.

This series will be followed by a huge Test series at home versus England. Rohit Sharma and his men will play five crucial games to keep their top spot in the WTC table. After a brief break, the IPL 2024 caravan will get rolling.

Star Player likely to miss few IPL games –

In what is a massive blow for the Indian fans, a star player might miss the few first games of IPL 2024. The player in question is none other than Suryakumar Yadav. The 33-year-old has become one of the best players in the T20 format and scored a ton versus South Africa recently.

It is believed that Suryakumar Yadav needs at least 8-9 weeks of rehabilitation after suffering a sports hernia. The Times of India spoke to a source close to things in the know and reported on the issue.

The source in question, while speaking to the newspaper, said, “SKY was recently diagnosed with sports Hernia. He is currently recuperating in Bengaluru. In two to three days he will fly to Munich, Germany, to get operated for it. It certainly means he won’t be playing for Mumbai this season in the domestic tournament and is likely to miss the initial games for the Mumba Indians in the IPL.”

Yet another source, while speaking to the Indian Express, said, “After his hernia operation it might take up to 8-9 weeks for him to start training. Hopefully he will be fit during the IPL”. This comes as a huge blow for Mumbai Indians and Team India fans with so much cricket ahead.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Shami is likely to miss the first few games of the England Test Series. The 33-year-old wasn’t fit in time to fly to South Africa for the Test Series due to ankle issues. It is believed that Shami might not be fit in time to play the first two Test versus England.
