After completing the home T20I series against South Africa, the Indian T20 side is gearing up for another two-match T20I series against Ireland on their home soil. Before this South Africa series, India was enjoying a 12-match winning streak in this shortest format of the game.
But, the Proteas gave India a setback as they defeated them in the first two series matches. However, India made a roaring comeback in the series under Pant’s captaincy by winning the next two matches. The series ended with a margin of 2-2 as the last match at Bengaluru got washed away.
Senior players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were rested for this series as the maximum number of players reached England for the full tour. In this series, Hardik Pandya had been appointed as the captain of the side while Bhuvneshwar Kumar had been given the vice-captain duties.
Some new players like Rahul Tripathi, Uman Malik, and Ruturaj Gaikwad had been added to the squad based on their stellar performance in the recently concluded Indian T20 League 2022. Along with it, Suryakumar Yadav had earned a comeback call after he missed out on the South Africa series due to an injury.
