‘Isko Bazzball wale chilwa denge’ – Fans react to viral image of ‘Green’ Lord’s pitch ahead of 2nd Test in Ashes 2023
The second Test of the ongoing Ashes 2023 is going to begin on 28 June at the Lord’s. After losing the series opener, fans showed some concerns about England’s ‘Bazball’ approach. So, the home fans are hoping for a better performance from Ben Stokes and his men. Now, an image went viral where the Lord’s pitch was seen completely covered with green grass.
Seeing that, fans went crazy and shared their views on social media. However, the veteran England pacer, James Anderson was not happy with the flat nature of the wicket at the Edgbaston. In his column in The Telegraph, Anderson wrote that the pitch ‘was like kryptonite for’ him.

“I think we played our style, which is to try and take the game forward.” – Brendon McCullum
He wrote: “This is an Ashes series. It is a big deal. When you play on a flat pitch like the one at Edgbaston and take a wicket, a bit more emotion does come out because you have worked extra hard for it. That pitch was like kryptonite for me. There was not much swing, no reverse swing, no seam movement, no bounce and no pace. I’ve tried over the years to hone my skills so I can bowl in any conditions but everything I tried made no difference. I felt like I was fighting an uphill battle. It’s a long series and hopefully, I can contribute at some point, but if all the pitches are like that I’m done in the Ashes series.”
However, England’s Test team head coach, Brendon McCullum vowed to be more aggressive in this upcoming match. He said: “I think we played our style, which is to try and take the game forward. I thought Australia were happy playing their style as well, which ultimately led to success for them and I’m sure they’ll continue with those tactics right throughout the series. I think it’s set up to be quite a fascinating contest. Both teams have got a little bit of time to digest what’s unfolded over the last five days and maybe slightly tweak a couple of things along the way. But I’d expect that they’d carry on doing the same sort of playing [style] that they executed here, and we’ll be doing the same.”
