‘Isme bhi India ki sajish hai’ – Fans react as star players including Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan go unsold at the Hundred 2023 draft
On Thursday, March 23, teams avidly sought out domestic players since several well-known names remained unsold at the Hundred draft. International superstars like Trent Boult, Mohammad Rizwan, Andre Russell, Kieron Pollard, and Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan, were among those whose tickets remained unsold.
Eight teams selected as many as 30 male cricket players at the draft. Tom Abell was recruited by Welsh Fire’s newly appointed coach Michael Hussey, and the team strengthened itself significantly.
Welsh Fire snatched Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf at the Hundred draft
Even though Babar and Rizwan had some bad luck, two of their comrades successfully found a team. Welsh Fire snatched up Pakistan’s top two pacers, Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf because it was obvious that they were trying to get stronger for the coming season.
Babar Azam was spotted guiding Peshawar Zalmi during the Pakistan Super League‘s recently concluded season 8. He successfully guided the team to the second elimination round, but Zalmi fell to the eventual champions, Lahore Qalandars. Babar also set an exemplary example, finishing the year as the Multan Sultans’ Mohammad Rizwan’s closest competitor regarding runs scored.
Babar scored 522 runs in 11 games during season eight, with a strike rate of 145.40 and an average of 52.20, including his first PSL century. However, Rizwan, the captain of the Sultans, had a successful season overall and was the top run-getter with 550 runs in 12 games at an average of 55.00 and a strike rate of 142.86.
In season eight, he was also able to score a century. Unfortunately, he could not lead his team past Qalandars in the summit game, as they fell short by one run. The player that garnered the most attention during the previous season was Shaheen, who helped Qalandars win the PSL title for the second time in a row by winning Player of the Match in the final game.
In terms of the women’s game, the Hundred finished its first-ever draft, and the biggest piece of information for the Indian fans was Harmanpreet Kaur’s transfer to Trent Rockets.
