‘It doesn’t make sense to follow’- Robert Lewandowski slams FC Barcelona over Lionel Messi transfer saga
Lionel Messi’s stay in Paris came to an untimely end as PSG supporters booed him in their final Ligue 1 encounter of the 2022-23 season. PSG lost the game 2-3 but won the Ligue 1 title. He became a free agent after failing to renew his contract with Inter Miami. The winner of the 2022 FIFA World Cup was first connected to Al Hilal and his previous team FC Barcelona.
According to rumours, he preferred Catalonia because he want Champions League football, and Al Hilal was paying him a large number of money. Barcelona even received La Liga approval to sign Messi, but he reportedly declined since they would have to trade players and lower pay to sign him.
It doesn’t make sense to follow: Robert Lewandowski
The transfer process lasted weeks, and when it eventually ended, Barcelona supporters were dissatisfied. Due to contradicting accounts, it also left Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski unhappy. The former Bayern Munich player stated to TVP Sport, “It doesn’t make sense to follow the information that tells you that today there is a 90% chance that he will come and the next day a 10% chance.”
The Polish striker added, “Information about Barcelona is difficult to follow. Many times they are invented by those who write well or badly about Barcelona. When I wanted to know information, I knew who to call and I knew how the situation was, I asked what the possibilities were.” He had declared his desire to play with Messi when it was known that the Argentine would not renew his contract with PSG. It would have been a joy for fans to see the two work together. Messi’s decision to MLS also has significant financial implications, including Apple and Adidas.
Meanwhile, Messi has been promised a portion of the income produced by new MLS Season Pass members on Apple TV. Apple TV has also launched a four-episode documentary series about Messi’s FIFA World Cup run. Adidas, on the other hand, is a big MLS sponsor, and they reportedly promised Messi a portion of the revenues generated by his debut in the MLS in apparel sales. Adidas is Messi’s long-term sponsor.
