‘It gives you motivation to get back’ – Rohit Sharma gets back as Indian captain for Test against South Africa after ODI World Cup 2023 loss
India’s captain Rohit Sharma will now look ahead to the test series against South Africa after a miserable ODI World Cup 2023 loss in the final match against Australia. India and South Africa will lock horns for a two-match test series beginning from 26th December to 30th December.
Rohit Sharma recently released a video on his social media accounts while talking about how helpless and disappointing the finals were and how people around him kept him motivated. Sharma openly accepted that it was very difficult to move on and for a few days, the memories of the finals kept haunting him.
The Indian captain will look forward to some other marquee tournament prize and gear up for the T20 World Cup 2022 along with the world test championship 2023-25.
Rohit Sharma on moving on from ODI World Cup 2023 loss
“I had no idea how to come back from this (loss in the World Cup final) the first few days…my family, my friends kept me going, kept things pretty light around me, which was quite helpful. It wasn’t easy to digest, but yeah, life moves on. You have to move on in life,” Rohit Sharma expressed on his social media accounts.
“At times I thought we did everything we could from our side if someone asked me what went wrong because we won 10 games and in those 10 games, yes, we made mistakes. But those mistakes happen in every game. You cannot have a perfect game. You can have a near-perfect game but never a perfect game,” said Rohit while reflecting on the last match of the ODI World Cup 2023.
While looking ahead at the test series again South Africa, Rohit Sharma said, “It was just pure love from the people that I met and it was wonderful to see that. So, you know, it gives you motivation to get back and start working again and look for another ultimate prize.”
