‘It has been an incredible journey to watch’ – Australian spinner Nathan Lyon congratulates Ravichandran Ashwin on taking 500 Test wickets

On the third day of the third Test at Rajkot on Friday, Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin achieved his 500th Test wicket when he dismissed English opener Zak Crawley. Australia’s Nathon Lyon applauds Ashwin on this accomplishment. Moreover, Lyon is also a member of the 500-wicket club and thus, shared a video on Ashwin’s milestone.

In his video, Lyon said, “Hey, Ash! Just want to say, a massive congratulations on taking 500 Test match wickets. It has been an incredible journey to watch. I’ve got nothing but respect for the way you have gone about it and your skill level. Lyon said heaping praise on the fellow spinner. It has been amazing to be competing against you but also learn a few. So, mate, congratulations and plenty more to come.”

In the third Test match of the five-match series, India defeated England by winning the toss and choosing to bat first. Captain Rohit Sharma led from the front with an outstanding 131-run innings. However, before Rohit and Ravindra Jadeja started their game, England got off to a strong start, putting India at 33 for the loss of three wickets early on.

Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurel’s dream debut

Dhruv Jurel and Sarfaraz Khan, Team India’s newcomers for the third Test match against England, had a lot riding on them. However, they performed their responsibilities brilliantly at the first opportunity. During the first Test innings, both players were in the running, but they just lost out on what could have been historic victories.

In his maiden international appearance, Sarfaraz was comfortable and scored 62 runs off 66 balls, but an unfortunate run out ended his innings. Moreover, in his debut innings, Jurel, the wicketkeeper-batter, was a reliable presence at the crease following Sarfaraz’s wicket. He scored 46 runs off 104 deliveries.
