Star India bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been out of action for nearly 10 months. He missed out on a number of major tournaments such as the Asia Cup 2022, the T20 World Cup 2022, the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, and the World Test Championship (WTC) final 2023 due to a back injury. The Mumbai Indians speedster underwent surgery and has been recovering at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

Now, there is some good news for Indian cricket fans as Bumrah shares some of his pictures of practising bowling and fielding at NCA on social media, on Tuesday, July 18. He tagged the Indian cricket team’s official handle on Instagram in the caption.

Bumrah is expected to be selected for Ireland tour – Reports

According to a report in Cricbuzz last week, Bumrah is set to make his comeback in the upcoming three-match T20I series against Ireland next month. The 29-year-old pacer has snapped 70 wickets in 60 T20I matches at an average of 20.22. In ODIs, he has grabbed 121 wickets in  72 ODI games at an average of 24.3.

Bumrah last played for India in September last year during a three-match T20I series against Australia at home. He played in two of those matches with the expectation of returning back for the T20 World Cup but was once more forced to miss out due to a stress fracture in his lower back. He ended his chances of making a comeback in January of this year before having back surgery, which stopped him from playing in the IPL 2023 and the entire home season including the Border-Gavaskar Trophy

“Bumrah is expected to be selected for the Ireland series. The India spearhead has shown significant progress in recent times. There is no guarantee if Shreyas Iyer will be available, but KL Rahul has no chance of featuring not only in the Ireland series but also in the Asia Cup 2023. Rahul is currently undergoing rehab at the NCA and, according to the latest information, he is yet to start batting,” the report stated.
